With the Billabong Pro Tahiti experiencing some swell problems and the contest on hold I thought I'd share my Teahupoo experience with you. My wife and I went to Tahiti for our honeymoon. We did the outer islands first and spent our last day on the main island of Tahiti. We rented a car and drove down to the world famous break. What struck me was how far out the wave was and the angle it seemed to take as it approached the reef. With binoculars I was able to see two surfers getting shacked. It was so cool to see and I can only imagine what it must look like up close, let alone from inside the barrel. The little town there is cool as well, as is all of Tahiti and its islands. No i didn't surf it. I know my limits but there is a fun inside wave at the beach were you park that the local kids were hitting. I guess that's how the locals kids practice for the future when it will be their turn to make that drop. (Above: Teahupoo mountain view; Below: Teahupoo out there...)
